Cedar Falls Residents Grab Honors at Iowa State Fair

Cedar Falls residents have caught the attention of judges at the Iowa State Fair.

 

Cedar Falls residents are pulling in the awards at the Iowa State Fair. Here's a list of our local honorees so far. Congratulations to all the winners!

 

 

Cedar Falls High School won the Governor's Cup as the top marching band in the 2012 Iowa State Fair Parade held prior to the start of the Fair.

 

Bill Riley's 53rd annual Iowa State Fair Talent Search:

Sprout division act (ages 2-12) selected to perform in the Championship round: Carly Groninga, 11, Vocal Solo

Senior division acts (ages 13-21) advanced to the semi-final round: Marjorie Gast, 15, Harp Solo

Angelle Waltz, 12, Cedar Falls, Vocal Solo

 

Wood Projects contest:

Mary Lou Snyder took the following honors:

WOODCARVING: Stylized - Other: Honorable Mention, Instructor Assisted - Birds: 1

 

Creative Arts contest:

Maribeth Woolsey took the following honors:

BASKETRY: Reed or Splint: 2, Twill: 2, Other than Named/Multi Media: 3

 

Fabric and Threads Quilting contest:

TEAM OR GROUP: Found and Finished: 3) Sally Wetherell
