State Street To Be Transformed?

State Street has long seemed to be the neglected cousin in the Main Street neighborhood's development. That is set to change if the plans from a developer move forward.

A major development project is planned for downtown State Street in Cedar Falls, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier has reported.

The Courier writes:

Mark Kittrell and Jean Fischer, of Eagle View Partners, plan to jump-start both a four-block section of State Street and the site of the former Broom Factory restaurant at First and Main streets. They expect to partner with others on mostly residential development, but also envision a hotel, public spaces and some limited commercial space.

Kittrell and Fischer presented their plan to a committee of the Planning and Zoning Commission Wednesday. They told the committee they hope to bring 350 to 400 residents downtown. The Western Home Communities are also planning a large expansion on State Street, and there is talk of working the Army Corps of engineers to improve access to the river.

If it were up to you, what would you like to be part of the State Street development project? Tell us in the comments.
