Black Hawk County is under a heat advisory starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, with the high now predicted to be around 100 degrees and a heat index in the triple digits.

Black Hawk County - and, indeed, much of the state - is under a heat advisory starting at 1 p.m. this afternoon, lasting until 8 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory, which said the temperature is expected to climb to around 100 degrees this afternoon. The high heat, combined with high humidity, is expected to lead to a heat index reaching 105 to 110 degrees.
