What’s the Chance of a White Christmas 2012 in Cedar Falls?

Maybe, maybe not, but the chances look good.

Despite a distinct lack of snow so far, Cedar Falls could very well see a white Christmas this year.

The statistical probability of a white Christmas in the Cedar Valley is 70 percent, according to the National Climactic Data Center.

Citing that data, KCCI said chances for a white Christmas vary from 26 percent to 50 percent across southern Iowa and 51 percent to 75 percent across northern Iowa. Far northeast Iowa has a 76 percent to 90 percent chance.

KCRG meteroligist are watching a potential winter storm that could hit Iowa late Wednesday through Thursday.

AccuWeather.com meteorologists say their forecast tools indicate a colder, snowier pattern across the Plains before Christmas.

Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams, "There could be one storm or three, but the truth is just as some people may think there isn't going to be a white Christmas, we could have a storm develop right before the holiday to bring millions of people a nice surprise for the holiday."
