Stop the bullies: Vigil for Kenneth J. Weishuhn Jr.
Our hearts are heavy as we mourn yet another young life tragically ended as the result of anti-LGBT bullying. Only one month after coming out to his friends, Kenneth J. Weishuhn Jr. of Primghar, Iowa took his own life at the age of 14. The bullying at school and online was just too much for him to take. School administrators did far too little to put an end to this bullying; so Kenneth in a very desperate hour took his own life.
Working Families Win and UNI Proud call on the entire Cedar Valley to join us for a vigil Friday April 20th, 5:45pm-7pm at the SE intersection of Main and University in Cedar Falls (in front of the Dick Witham Ford Dealer, you may park in the church lot across the street)
Parents, teachers, students, faith leaders, politicians, school administrators, and community members all have a duty to stand-up to school bullying of all types.
It takes a village to stop a bully!
Please help us send a loud and clear message to the lbgt youth of Iowa that it really does get better; high school can be hell, but better days are ahead!
Please bring signs, candles, and rainbow flags.
Invite your friends; our youth need a strong showing of support.
