Cedar Falls Friday Roundup: Harry Potter and Journey

News, events, information: some tidbits for your day.


Harry Potter:

in the Cedar Valley. The Cedar Falls Public Library is looking for volunteers to help with their Evening at Diagon Alley youth event, tonight at 6 p.m.

If you're too old to go to the party yourself, but still long to immerse yourself in all things Potter, this is the volunteer gig for you. If you are interested or need more information, contact Kelly Stern, Youth Services Librarian, by email at kellymstern@gmail.com.

Can't leave the '80s behind? You don't have to at tonight's tribute to Journey, REO Speedwagon and Styx, as performed by Arch Allies at The Hub. The 7 p.m. show is $15 at the door. So break out the hairspray and don't fight the feeling.

Holiday Music:

Feeling more festive than rock and roll? The UNI Children's Choir will perform their winter concert at 7 p.m. in Bengtson Auditorium of Russell Hall. It's free, and likely to be adorable.

Internet for All:

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported Cedar Falls Utilities is continuing plans to bring high-speed Internet service to rural customers north and west of town. That area includes about 1000 homes and businesses and get them hooked up by the end of 2012.
