"Mr. President, I am looking to find a job. Do you have any advice?" Getting asked.

Obama responded as he shook hands with others outside the Main Street eatery.

"Yeah, I'll tell you. What are you into?" the president asked.

"Television broadcast," Getting responded.

The exchange went on with Getting telling the president of local NBC affiliate KWWL.

"Have you gone over to talk to them?" Obama asked. "Tried to maybe intern with them?"

"Always go in person," the president suggested. "Show up and say, 'I'm interested in interning, even if it's just part-time and even if it's not getting paid right away. Get it on your resume."

Getting decided to follow the advice, dropping by KWWL's office the next day. News director Dan Schillinger was there and talked to him.

"I always have this policy that if I’m there and someone comes in and wants to talk about a job, I’ll talk to them," Schillinger said.

The president's advice paid off for Getting. On Thursday, he started full time as a videographer and editor at KWWL.

He also posted a video thanking the president for the advice and offered to throw the Commander-in-Chief a Panther-style dance party as thanks.

Gratitude aside, will he vote for Obama? Well, Getting works in journalism now, so he declined to say how he would vote.

"We'll see," he said. "It's a big decision to make."

Getting said he has been looking for a job in journalism or multi-media production since graduating from UNI in May of 2011.

"I thought, you know what? This man managed to land a job as our country's leader, so why not ask him for some job-seeking advice?" he said. "It was pretty cool. I wasn’t expecting him to engage me or the length of response I got."
