One Man Killed, One Wounded in Waterloo Shooting

Police said at about 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, Waterloo Police were sent to Kum and Go Convenience Store, 1976 Franklin Street, where they found the shooting victims in the parking lot.

A Waterloo man was shot and killed Tuesday night and another was wounded in a shooting in Waterloo.

Cederick Deshawn "Joe" Matlock, 30, of 2117 Mulberry St. was killed. The injured man is William Rashad Burt, 19, of 206 Lane St.

Police said at about 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, Waterloo Police were sent to Kum and Go Convenience Store, 1976 Franklin Street, where they found the shooting victims in the parking lot. Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived and transported Matlock to Allen Hospital and Burt to Covenant Medical Center.

At Allen Hospital, Matlock was pronounced dead. 

Burt is being treated for his injuries, which do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

No arrests have been made. Police continue to process the crime scene and interview witnesses. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-4340, ex. 5003.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reporte the shots were fired at the two men in the parking lot of Save More Food and Liquor, 1975 Franklin St. Police said one of the victims appeared to run across the street to the Kum and Go parking lot, where he collapsed.
