Over the past five years, UNI professors have received raises of 3 percent in 2008, 4 percent in 2009, zero raise in 2010, 3 percent in 2011 and 3.5 percent in 2012, according to data from the Iowa Board of Regents, with whom faculty negotiate contracts.

Another comparison to consider is how professor salaries compare at peer universities. Compared to peers as defined by the Iowa Regents, and a separate grouping determined by the Education Trust, UNI professors fall in the bottom third when it comes to compensation for their services.
