Welcome Home, Iowa National Guard 211th

National Guardsman returned from duty in Afghanistan to a welcoming crowd of friends, family and supporters in the Cedar Valley on Tuesday.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports soldiers from the Iowa National Guard 211th Air Ambulance returned after being deployed last July to a Patriot Guard motorcycle procession and hundreds of cheering people at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Waterloo.

Among the 50 returning soldiers was Spec. Brad Friend of Cedar Falls. Friend was reunited with his 13-month-old daughter, the Courier reports.

“I made it a point not to look at the calendar too much,” he told the Courier.
