U.S. News & World Report: UNI Ranks No. 2 for Public Regional Universities in the Midwest

UNI also was 13th on a combined list of all public and private Midwest regional universities. The university was ranked 22nd on the list last year.

The University of Northern Iowa is ranked second in the "Best Regional Universities (Midwest)" category for public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2014 "America's Best Colleges" guidebook.

UNI also was 13th on a combined list of all public and private Midwest regional universities. The university was ranked 22nd on the list last year.

"It is truly an honor to be considered one of the best universities in the Midwest," said UNI President Bill Ruud. "We are committed to providing our students a high-quality educational experience. Our focus continues to be on providing the best undergraduate education in the state of Iowa and in the entire Midwest region."

The magazine's ranking criteria include peer assessment, academic reputation, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, graduation-rate performance and alumni giving rate.
