That Was Some Storm. Will We Get More Rain?

Thunderstorms and flash flooding struck the Cedar Valley Wednesday night.

With water in basements, submerged roads and even cars, downed trees and a temporary power outage for hundreds of residents, yesterday's thunderstorms made themselves felt in Cedar Falls.

Cedar Falls Utilities said about 150 residents lost power for a short time Wednesday. The National Weather Service reported a car submerged in flash flood waters near Midway Drive and University Avenue. Cedar Falls firefighters were kept busy responding to downed trees and flooded roads.

Unfortunately for rain-weary residents, we're not in the clear yet. Black Hawk County remains under a flood warning and a flash flood watch. The forecast calls for more showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, mainly after 3 p.m. The chance of rain is 90 percent.
