Authorities: Accidental Drowning was Cause of Death for Woman Found in Cedar River

Shanda Fawn Werkmeister, 35, of Waterloo, died of accidental drowning, according to an autopsy.

A woman whose body was found floating in the Cedar River in Waterloo Tuesday died of accidental drowning, according to an autopsy.

On July 9 at approximately 2:20 p.m., Waterloo Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Texas Street on report of suspicious vehicle parked off the roadway on a gravel drive. A female body was found nearby in the Cedar River.

The woman was identified as Shanda Fawn Werkmeister, 35, of Waterloo, police said.
