Cedar Falls Firefighters Use Boat to Rescue Woman From Flooded Truck

A Cedar Falls woman who drover her truck onto a flooded road was rescued by firefighters Friday morning after her engine stalled.

Cedar Falls firefighters had to rescue the woman with a boat at around 9 a.m. in the 200 block of West Lake Street north of Big Woods Lake.

Police said the woman's truck quit moving when the water was up to the windows. She was ticketed for driving past a road closed sign, and street crews have since put up barrels to better barricade the road.

Earlier this week, an Ackley man drowned after his SUV was swept off a flooded road. The Iowa Department of Transportation has asked residents to take no chances and to turn back if they encounter flooding.
