Cedar Falls School Board Names the Next Superintendent

Four candidates have interviewed for the position of Cedar Falls superintendent.

Andy Pattee, the next superientendent of Cedar Falls schools, will make $180,000 plus a standard benefits package, said school board president Deon Senchina.

“All four were excellent candidates,” she said. “I believe Dr. Pattee was selected because of his proven skills in coloration and innovation.”

The Cedar Falls School Board has chosen Andy Pattee as the next Cedar Falls superintendent.

Originally from Humboldt, Pattee has been Charles City superintendent since 2008 and Riceville superintendent since 2011. He previously was a teacher and principal in Oskaloosa. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and got his doctorate from Drake University. He was recently appointed to the state's Educational Board of Examiners.

“I am deeply honored and excited about working with all members of the Cedar Falls School Community to continue to explore greater opportunities for student learning and achievement,” Pattee said in a statement.

The Cedar Falls School District was looking for a new superintendent after the board decided not to renew first-year superintendent Mike Wells' contract. Pattee will start July 1.
